Illyus & Barrientos presents Black Market GlasgowArtist | 23.02.2017
After a tantalizing start to 2017, illyus & Barrientos are delighted to announce the launch of a new residency, their very own party collective! An underground and off the record experience where exhibition, music, and energy creates an out-and-out centre stage connection between the residents, guests and dancers alike. Black Market Glasgow showcases a shadowy platform characterised by many forms of defiant behaviour of an institutional set of rules and conformities. Regular and indistinguishable pop up parties running out of bootleg basements and beyond…
On Friday March 31st to get the bazaar ball rolling, for the launch, Black Market are setting up stall downstairs at the Admiral Bar on Waterloo Street. For this underhand unveiling the residents will be joined by one of the UK’s finest movers and shakers, Ron Basejam. After nearly 20 years touring as part of Crazy P, Ron’s solo project today exists from a desire to channel his eclectic tastes in electronic music into an underground house feel.
As well as Crazy P’s insanely productive stream of singles and albums since the mid-’90s, Basejam has managed an equally impressive output with his solo work ever since the 12″ debut on Winding Road in 2005, which he soon followed up with releases on Eskimo Recordings, Futureboogie, Wolf Music +++
Best known for his smooth and funkalicious signature sound, in recent years Ron has been relentless in releasing fresh material and producing spacey, melodic music. His DJ sets however, take his laid-back coolness to a whole new level. This is a long overdue return to Glasgow, and Nottingham’s very own Disco Inferno tells us he’s got a few special edits packed away for his trip north of the border.
Advance tickets for this rare opportunity to see Ron in an intimate rave cave are on sale from here: https://black-market-glasgow.eventcube.io/, then more on the door from 11pm.
