Take Note Academy London w/ Resident Advisor Saturday 15th September
Take Note Academy London makes a welcome return to East London’s design space Second Home
this September. Riding high on the success of previous years, and with new partner Resident
Advisor, London’s first music conference for young people has programmed a day full of inspiring
talks, masterclasses, one-on-one mentoring and a live performance. Take Note aims to educate,
inspire and connect the next generation, bringing together those who will shape the future of the
music industry.
‘The music industry is one of the most exciting and rewarding career choices but can be difficult to
break in to and a constant challenge to navigate. It is important to find your place and be creatively
fulfilled on your own unique path to ‘success’. Take Note aims to support the next generation by
giving them face to face access to the professionals who can open doors as well as inspiring young
people to come together, collaborate, and work towards a healthy future for electronic music.’
(Bianca Mayhew – Founder, Take Note Academy)
‘The future vitality of the electronic music industry depends on the passion and contribution of the
next generation. But despite its importance to the health of our scene, there isn’t a forum for
knowledge sharing and inspiration that caters directly for people who want to embark on a career in
our industry. Until now. The future of our scene will be in a better, healthier and more vibrant place
because of the knowledge shared, conversations had, and relationships formed at Take Note’ (Nick
Sabine – Founder, Resident Advisor).
The day kicks off with a morning Q&A session on how to fit into the electronic music industry with
panelists from varying job roles including A&R Manager (Ninja Tune) ‘and Tour Manager
(Drumcode)’. Throughout the day, respected DJs and producers such as Phonox resident HAAi, Ben
Pearce and Radio 1’s B Traits will be offering invaluable advice on a range of topics, including; social
media, a new era for London nightlife and the career path of XL Recordings A&R Manager, William
Aspden. Attendees will also hear the inner workings of one of the UK scene’s most respected
independent labels, LuckyMe ‘- home to Eclair Fifi, Hudson Mohawke and Jacques Greene.
For those interested in the practical side of music, Take Note will be running masterclasses in DJing,
production and broadcasting. Cassy ‘will talk on her style of DJing, whilst Tom Demac, Kasra ‘and
Matador ‘will be delving into the finer points of making music and DJ / radio producer Martha ‘will talk
broadcasting.
Drinks will be served from 6pm, encouraging attendees to talk to each other and the professionals on
site in an informal setting and make connections. There will be an intimate live performance to close
off the day to leave Take Note attendees inspired and excited.
