- 10 Years of VIVa MUSiC: Decadedance Part Two
Viva Music | 04.11.2016
Early November sees the second installment in VIVa MUSiC’s 10-year anniversary release featuring Mathew Jonson, Catz ‘n Dogz, Livio & Roby and label founder Steve Lawler.
Having hosted major names such as Jamie Jones, Guti, Nicole Moudaber and Andrea Oliva, not to mention emerging talents Darius Syrossian, Solardo, System2 and Denney, it’s without question that VIVa are one of the most prominent names in modern house music. With part one featuring Groove Armada, Phil Weeks, Harvard Bass and Junior Sanchez, Decadedance part two sees four more illustrious artists contribute to a release celebrating a decades worth of success.
Up first, Steve Lawler offers grooving bass lines deep in live played loose percussion, that extend to form an absorbing backbone of a dense disco’esque musical energy in ‘Show The Way’, before renowned Berlin-based Canadian veteran and Wagon Repair boss Mathew Jonson delivers the understated ‘1234567’ that toys with simplicity to a fiery effect. Pets Recordings bosses Catz & Dogz then dish out ‘Ali’: a quirky cut that blends energetic beats with rising and falling synths until VIVa and Desolat affiliates Livio & Roby round things off with ‘9 De Ville’ – a dark number composed of scuttling atmospheres and tight kick rhythms.
