- Manipulate EP
Gruuv | 22.04.2016
This April will see Gruuv label-founders Audiojack return to their own imprint with the ‘Manipulate’ EP, backed with remixes from Santé and Marc Romboy.
Audiojack have been busy over the past year with new material surfacing on the likes of Hot Creations, Tsuba, Leftroom and Culprit, as well as remixes for their Gruuv imprint which has maintained a stready release schedule over the past five years featuring artists like Emanuel Satie, Black Loops, Paul C & Paolo Martini amongst many more. Here though we see Audiojack back with a full EP for Gruuv in the shape of ‘Manipulate’.
The title track kicks off the release and sees the pair fuse subtly modulating synth leads with pulsating low end wobbles and an insistent rhythmic drive. ‘Bonafide’ follows and lays the focus on sparse, low-slung percussion, a snaking sub bass groove and heavily processed vocal spoken word vocal chops.
Marc Romboy then opens the latter half of the package with his ‘Devilfish Attack’ take on ‘Manipulate’ which introduces crunchy analogue rhythms, swelling delays of the original’s vocal murmurs, raw acid blips and a general tripped out, psychedelic feel. Sante then closes the package with his rework of ‘Bonafide’ laying the focus on a heady drum groove with sporadic stab sequences, dubby delays and resonant sweeps thrown into the mix for good measure.
