Lee Foss
- Crawl (incl. CamelPhat Remix)
Repopulate Mars | 24.08.2018
Lee Foss returns to his consistently impressive Repopulate Mars imprint with ‘Crawl’ featuring vocalist SPNCR, rapper Mal Rainey, as well as a remix from Grammy nominees CamelPhat.
Lee Foss needs little introduction as one of house music’s most prolific DJs and producers, not to mention helming some of the genre’s most influential labels like Hot Creations, Emerald City and Repopulate Mars. Two close friends join him on his next outing; Los Angeles-based vocalist Spencer Nezey AKA SPNCR, who paired up with Foss on ‘Living In The City’ and ‘Drifting’ last year, as well as Chicago-born rapper Mal Rainey, an old school friend of Lee’s who is currently developing his own album, produced by Foss himself.
‘Crawl’ combines a funk-infused bass groove, a clean jazz piano and swinging cymbal rhythms with SPNCR’s soulful vocals and Rainey’s fast paced rapping throughout. Following up, CamelPhat – Beatport’s biggest selling artist of 2017 – give their take on ‘Crawl’, generating a cosmic aesthetic utilising acidic synth arpeggios, chopped up vocals and a straight four-to-the-floor drum rhythm.
