The Martinez Brothers
- The Martinez Brothers Remixed [Peggy Gou, DJ Deeon, Maayan Nidam, Mathew Jonson]
Cuttin’ Headz | 15.12.2017
Mid-December will see the Martinez Brothers Cuttin’ Headz label unveil a remix package featuring interpretations from Mathew Jonson, Peggy Gou, DJ Deeon and Maayan Nidam.
The Martinez Brothers and their Cuttin’ Headz imprint have continued to go from strength to strength with collaborations alongside Martin Buttrich, Jerome Sydenham and Mathew Jonson from the label founders, and EP’s from Guti and Morgan, AJ Christou, Jaded Thompson and Jesse Calosso making up this years output. Here to round out a solid 2017 for the Cuttin’ Headz the duo have enlisted some of the classic and contemporary electronic music scenes most revered figures in on remix duties.
Up first is Canadian analogue synth aficionado Mathew Jonson with his reinterpretation of ‘No Pop’, released on the label earlier this year, delivering an acid arpeggio fuelled peak-time dance floor workout. Hotly tipped producer and DJ Peggy Gou then steps up to rework ‘H 2 DA IZZO’, laying focus on resonant acid swells, hooky synth licks, choppy bass hits and dusty drums to create a classic slice of house.
Dance Mania favourite DJ Deeon steps up to rework ‘Stuff In The Trunk’ next, opting for frenzied synth leads and crunchy rhythms whilst reshuffling the original’s infectious vocal lines to create a typically raw and groove-drive cut from the Chicago native. Maayan Nidam then rounds out the package with her take on ‘H 2 DA IZZO’, and as expected from the Perlon artist, taking a more refined approach with modulating percussion, gently unfolding synth echoes and elongated bass drones at the core of the composition.
