Moon Harbour shine a light on four fast rising and vital talents on their latest Various Artists release, and they are Proudly People, Saeed Younan & Electronic Youth, Danny Serrano & Mendo and Nico Cabeza.
Italian tech house duo Proudly People kick off with ‘That Thing’, a rolling and loopy number with long legged bass and crisp hits. A classic vocal sample is sure to get people going wild on the floor as the kick drums ping about and the intensity builds throughout.
Saeed Younan & Electronic Youth are next, and the former runs his own Younan Music label, while the latter are regular artists on it. Here they enlist Born I Music for ‘That Feeling’, which is an airy track with retro stabs and great vocals that take you back to early Chicago house. It’s a simple but effective cut that rolls on and on, ramping up the pressure and keeping you marching throughout.
It’s another collaboration then in the form of Danny Serrano & Mendo, regulars on labels like Saved and high grade producers with a big sound. Their ‘This Is Acid’ proves that with coarse claps and underlapping bass all run through with hypnotic one finger key stabs and a retro acid bassline that will bring the house down.
Cabeza appeared on the label in 2016 when he contributed a track to the Orbiter II series and again comes correct here. The Italian’s excellent ‘Wind’ is a high octane track that brims with energy. Claps and snares, little vocal stabs and a blizzard of hi hats all wrap round each other in a kinetic cloud of sound as a groaning voices bring a sense of weirdness to the restless drum line.
This is an essential EP that packs a real punch across four different but equally impactful tracks.
