Brainchild of Swiss duo DJ Le Roi and Yare, BREYN teams up once again with long standing imprint partner Flashmob to drop their 4 track EP ‘Master 1,’ comprising of two originals and two remixes courtesy of Dirty Channels and Paul Ursin.

Their lighthearted track title sits perfectly in first spot to open the EP on a groovy note. Using just enough percussion to keep the drive, BREYN drops in a sweet dream-like voice accompanied by a rising and falling bassline, before overlapping with a second refrain to create conversational vocals. Duo ‘Dirty Channels’ offer a respectful re-work of this cut, maintaining a lot of BREYN’s original ideas. Their slightly darker approach reaches conclusion with the use of subtle fuzz and pronounced techno influences.

Master 2 follows on from BREYN s title track, building their cut with a brooding intro before dropping a crisp high hat and memorable vocal samples. At 4 ½ minutes the duo strip it right back, implementing a time of reflection before a subtle drop takes it to its final quarter.

To end the EP, we’re treated to Paul Ursin’s re-work of cut two; all encompassing of his style, he delivers a beautifully contrasting remix to the already strong original. Evolving the vocal samples by presenting a variety of depths, Paul provides us with plenty of rhythm to make this a driving remix worthy of it’s own merit.
