Berlin based producer and DJ David Pher returns to Audiojack’s Gruuv imprint this May with two fresh cuts, whilst fellow German talent Kevin Over provides a bubbling remix to the title track.

Entering the scene in 2008, Pher began to make big moves right off the bat with his ‘The Poor Kids’ EP on Glückskind gaining the immediate attention of many within the electronic music scene through its unique deep and minimal take on the house genre. Fast forward 8 years and Pher has gone on to release on a host of distinguished labels including VIVa, Tsuba, Time Has Changed and OFF, whilst his productions have been supported by the likes of Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, M.A.N.D.Y and Marco Carola to name just a few. The latest addition to his ever-expanding catalogue comes through his latest Gruuv release, which signals his third stop off on the imprint.

Title track ‘The Observer’ opens the release in fine fashion with a series of vibrant stabs, infectious vocals and skipping percussion patterns all accenting a central bumping groove line that guides the production through its 7-minute plus duration. Second offering ‘Maravillosa’ provides a stripped back aesthetic, with organic drums, dubby delays and soft pads providing the attention and emphasis.

Lastly, fellow countryman Kevin Over steps up to provide his take on ‘The Observer’. With a clear focus towards heavier and darker sounds, Over’s alternative maintains the vibrancy of the originals vocals whilst providing a thunderous set of thumping kicks and chugging low end to round out the EP.

David Pher ‘The Observer’ EP is out on Gruuv on 27th May 2016.
