With a quality house and garage flavour, Seb Zito’s Seven Dials Records brings the slick new ‘Lightbringer EP’ from renowned UK artist Lee Walker.

Having DJ’d and produced music for many a year, Walker’s breakthrough came from a video circulating the internet of Marco Carola playing his re-edit of DJ Deeon’s classic ghetto house stomper “Freak Like Me” at Music On Closing back in 2015, which was soon picked up by Defected and released to great success being playlisted by BBC Radio 1, many other stations, before being co-released by Defected and Ministry of Sound with the vocals of Katy B and MNEK to take the track to a whole new audience. From there Walker has concentrated in following his path of creating house music with a garage essence with further releases appearing on labels from the likes of Dirtybird, Wiggle and Little Helpers, through to Kaluki, Simma Black and CR2.

For his first release on Zito’s Seven Dials Records, he drops his ‘Lightbringer EP’ which features both a vocal and dub cut of ‘My Lightbringer’ and the more Lo-Fi House esq ‘Thinking of Her’.

First up is ‘My Lightbringer’, which is a house track with touches of garage flavour and a soulful influence. With it’s bouncing and energetic bass line powering the track, the skipping chords drop in to give it some uplift and it’s all polished off with a beautiful soulful vocal delivering an excellent track for the summer. This also comes with a dub version for those who like to get down with a little less vocal in their grooves.

The remaining track is ‘Thinking of Her’, a deep and emotional track with the lo-fi treated vocal of ‘I think of You’ drifting through the track over the top of delicate bell synth lead with other organ and synth sounds pushed to the back of the mix which provide the depth and emotive melodical side of the track. This is an excellent EP showing Walkers versatility delivering sounds that are uplifting and lively perfectly in time for the summer.
