Will Buck’s Off Track Records welcomes Brooklyn, New York’s Malik Hendricks onto the label this January with his ‘Praise’ EP, accompanied by a remix from Eli Escobar.

Over its past six releases Will Buck’s Off Track imprint has unveiled a series of stomping house EP’s from the man himself, including collaborations with Pleasant Systems boss Tilman, Shall Not Fade regular Felipe Gordon and recently an EP from Dolly artist John Barera. Here, Will once again welcomes a new artist onto the labels roster, this time Malik Hendricks, a Brooklyn-based purveyor of raw and soul-infused House sounds previously found on labels such as Bliss Point, Coloring Lessons, Darker Than Wax and more.

Opening the EP is ‘Melody and Rhythm’, as the name would suggest fusing an amalgamation of intertwined, intricately unfolding synth melodies with a crisp, crunchy drum groove. ‘Know Me’ follows next and lays down a twitchy synth line alongside airy chord sequences, vocal chops, brass licks, metallic chimes and an off-kilter rhythm.

Title-cut ‘Praise’ opens the flip side and sees Hendricks embrace a more classic House feel courtesy of gospel vocal lines, jazzy keys and robust percussion. One of New York’s most iconic DJs of the cities contemporary House and Disco scene, Eli Escobar, then rounds out the release with his take on ‘Praise’, putting his own stamp on the original with the introduction of a bubbling arpeggio line, choppy bass stabs and a gritty drum machine workout.
