Martin Eyerer & Markus Homm
- Springlane EP
Culprit | 16.06.2018
The peak of summer means brightening and softening of Culprit’s sonic palette. Sun-soaked, deep, house groove-laden sounds come to the front.
Case in point – Culprit’s July release by the Eyerer & Homm production team that percolates with the hot season’s possibilities. Their “Springlane” is the story of seconds: it’s the Berlin-based artists second collaboration, following a debut on Leena Music last year and it’s Martin Eyerer’s second Culprit release, swiftly on the heels of last December’s “Into The Night.”
The two originals push forward a more stripped down take on classic Deep House, where warm organ chords & filtered pads meet crisp percussion and subtle off-kilter touches, especially on “Springlane.” At once spare and funky, these tunes are primed to engage many a daytime dancefloor.
Visionquest’s Ryan Crosson returns to Culprit with his second remix for the label. His immaculately sound-designed take on “Springlane” takes the song further into bouncy minimalistic territory, whilst keeping the upbeat vibe of the original and expanding on it with some on-point use of vocal samples and a new set of moodier keys to balance the bounce.
