Having launched itself in spectacular style once again over the course of the summer, the Hard Times imprint is back and this time with a revitalised sound from earlier on in the year. Mat Playford is the man in control, who welcomes back his Mr Future creation, partnered with a duo of remixes, one of which that sees Steve Mac partner up with the main man himself, the other alongside Warehouse Project resident Krysko and Burton. Burton, has been hyped by Playford, who dubs him a ‘master musician’ hailing from the ‘golden age of house’.

The original work is one that brings that sweet taste of 90s ibiza back to your senses and has inevitably been tearing up the circuit over the summer season, offering its unique textures and mind blowing acid induced lead lines to the thousands of passionate clubber’s across the white isle and global electronic scene.

The partnership with The Rhythm Masters’ Steve Mac enters with a stronger house vibe from the off, building around gentle strings before launching into the instantly recognisable and unique bouncing acid line. The main focal point through is the charming melody, which is allowed to stand on the pedestal once again to take in all the glory above a bed of ferocious rubbery drums.

Closing the remix EP, Playford welcomes Burton and Krysko into the studio for a more mellow approach to Mr Future. The outcome is a rolling waterfall of progressive rides, hi hats, warming strings and trippy melodic top lines. The hook from the original work somewhat diminishes in this representation however the character is ever present as this impressively reworked EP comes to a close.
