Mr Morek makes his full Renaissance debut’

After teasing his arrival by way of a very excellent remix of James Harcourt’s ‘Trust Me With Your Heart’, Mr Morek finally lands at Renaissance with an EP of dazzling brilliance, which hopefully surprises no one as he’s been on the front foot for some time now, having released on marquee labels such as Sincopat, Atlant, Disco Halal and Exploited, to name but a few.

Title track ‘Massive Landing’ may already sound familiar to the eagle-eared as it’s been a mainstay in Solomun’s sets over the summer, which took a delighted Morek by surprise, ‘I logged into IG one day and it was the first thing that popped on my feed. I almost fainted!’, he confesses, ‘I’m so chuffed he, and Renaissance, picked-up on this track as a lot of work went into it, including moving my entire studio! I was struggling to concentrate in the city, so I upped sticks and took all my equipment into the country. Once settled the idea flowed quickly, first came the riff, then the vocal and, finally, those all-important little touches. When completed, I remember dancing to it again and again for a very long time!’

The track is then given a real dash of Gallic house flair from the very talented Notre Dame, who comes to the project with real heat having just won the Innervisions’ Jimi Jules competition with his remix of ‘My City’s On Fire’. Demonstrating the result was no fluke, his ‘Massive Landing’ remix will certainly serve to keep the momentum boiler well-stoked.

Rounding out the EP are two equally infectious cuts. ‘Murky Waters’, which, as the title suggests, is a contemplation of life’s complexities and how they can take time to resolve; plus ‘Let’s Go’, where Morek demonstrates his diversity with a thrilling slice of indie-electronica, ‘It’s about not waiting. A call to seize the day and go for it,’ he concludes on a very appropriate note – this really is one producer on a mission!
