Persica
- Celtic Soul (Feat. Darius Syrossian Remix)
Mile End Records | 14.12.2015
The now ten year old and hugely influential Canadian label Mile End Records is back with a hot new EP. This one comes from Persica, features two great originals and one on point remix from Darius Syrossian.
Persica has up until now, been a secret production alias of Darius and he has already released on labels like Saved as well as this one. Darius is known around the world for his tough tech house (on labels like Viva, Hot Creations and the newly minted Do Not Sleep) as well as his slamming DJ sets all over Europe, Ibiza, American and beyond.
The first fine original is Celtic Soul, and it is a full fat house tune with a corrugated bass line, big retro stabs and cool vocal yelps. Some nicely sequenced melodies ride up and down the scale and add cool colour to the groove. It’s a real winner that Darius then remixes in more of his traditional mode. As expected, the no frills spinner makes the track much meatier, heavier and more sweat inducing with solid kicks and raven sirens all making it impossible to ignore.
Lastly, Purple Door is a tense main room house cut with a thick lead synth line, slinky, airy hi hats and driving bass as well as plenty of drum fills that all get you moving. A cool breakdown offers a moments pause before the thing kicks again. It’s a great track to finish a great EP.
