FUTURA welcome Ben Balance to the label with his debut release for Leon’s now burgeoning and increasingly popular imprint, with the German DJ and producer providing a slick 4 track EP titled “I Missed You”

The Berlin resident has previously appeared on labels such as Rendr, Frame and Moss co, whilst running his own imprints such as Yaji, Sukhumvit Records and NCSS, and now makes his debut on FUTURA, with 4 tracks which are ripe for the underground minimal deep scene.

Kicking off the EP is ‘The Thompson Project’ a throwback to the analogue sound of old, this is true minimal deep tech house, using
distinguishable vocal cuts weaving in and out, whilst meandering floating synths drift about over a crisp deep and fat bassline. Track 2 is
“BBBreaks” which gets its name from the broken beat groove. Balance adds some old school synths into the mix which combine with gated vocals and all the while switching up the bassline groove to drive the track along.

The third track of the EP ‘Lets Have A Party’ brings together a groovy bassline, rolling percussion, analogue synth patterns which grow and grow, whilst adding classy vocal cuts to bring the party vibe. The final track “Hocus Focus” is a deeper, tougher cut. The heavy yet bouncing drums are accompanied by a chunky acid bassline before Balance brings in the drifting analogue synths and processed vocals which give the track a subtle uplift in feel before the track dives back down to the raw beats and bass. Overall this is a classy and great debut EP on Futura and one that is definitely going to resonate with the heads in the scene.
