For the last release of the year Leon’s imprint FUTURA welcomes the highly regarded Greek artist Liou to the label, which comes complete with a stellar remix from prominent Romanian artist, Priku and compatriot Dinu.

Greek artist Liou released his first production back in 2016 with his ‘Space Hood’ EP on Signature Records which gained great reviews and put him on the map.
Since then he has had many releases on respected labels such as Finest Hour, La Vie En Rose, Blind Vision records, Broox, Daydream and HouseOnWax and more. He’s played at many venues and parties around his native Greece and has had many great shows in the surrounding countries such as Hungary.

To start things off the first and title track of the EP is ‘Out OF Phase’. This starts things off with a breakbeat groove, soft background synths and a bouncing bassline. It utilises scratch incidentals, adds a low end lead line, before bringing in the acid line and vocoder vocals. This is an excellent start to a fire EP.

Track 2, ‘What It Seems’ rolls back into 4/4 territory, with a jackin’ beat, analogue bass, old school pads before dropping that acid lead again for maximum effect. This is a beautiful track which feels like it pays homage to the heydays of the early 90’s dance scene. This is a sublime second track.

Next up is ‘Ride It Out’ which has a more featured underground peak time flavour. The classy kick and bassline work in tandem with punchy snares, eerie atmospherics and a hypnotic acid lead delivering a fantastic 3rd original on this EP.

Last but certainly not least is the Priku feat Dinu remix, the highly regarded Romanian producer Priku combines with cohort Dinu to take their remix of ‘Ride It Out’ and deliver another amazing addition to the package., retaining many of the originals parts yet working them with great effect with various delay and echos, supplying a delightful 6 and half minute journey in the deepest roots of the underground.

This is a great EP to sign off to finish off the year, and with possibly the biggest release on the label to date.
