Blantyre
- Addiction EP
Reptile Dysfunction | 08.06.2018
Blantyre, a sound where a unique strain of twisted Balearic beats meets gritty electronic sounds, encoded with rumbling low ends, licked with elements from the past and to beyond the future. Dare to roll into a disparate journey with Blantyre .
Blantyre’s’ debut release “Come In” as part of the “Young Un’s” EP last year on Doorly’s highly regarded Reptile Dysfunction label, received plays and support from the likes of Soul Clap, Claptone, Yolanda Be Cool, Graham Sahara and head reptilian Doorly himself. This June sees the release of Blantyre’s first full EP release, Addiction, on the label.
Doorly has said of the label and Blantyre himself….. “The main drive for me setting up Reptile Dysfunction was to give me a stable to nurture up an coming or overlooked talent that I’ve found on my travels as a DJ over the last 20 years. Blantyre is an artist I’ve known for many years in Ibiza and have always been impressed with his vibe. We loved his track “Come in” as part of last summer’s “Young Un’s” EP and it’s a real pleasure to present his sophmore EP. Anyone who’s seen me DJ in the last 6 months will be familiar with Addiction, it’s been my ‘get out of jail free card” record for a while now all over the world!”
The EP is an highly charged 2 track EP with two originals and a remix coming from Award winning Ibicencan DJ / Producer Manu Gonzalez. The title track Addiction is a bass driven affair with an x-rated vocal that definitely stands out from crowd. The second track on the EP is called Menina Piano, is a powerhouse piano track, uplifting and grooving this is a perfect track for summer.
The third track on the EP is a remix which comes courtesy of Ibicenco DJ / Producer Manu Gonzalez, who since winning the Ibiza DJ Award at the DJ Awards in 2016 has seen his stock rise in meteoric style. He’s gone on to release on some of the world’s most reputable labels on Moon Harbour, Decay Records, Do Not Sleep, and Oblack producing tracks with artists such as Sabb and Secondcity. His tracks have been getting heavy play from the likes of Marco Carola, Pete Tong, Matthias Tanzmann and more including airplay on BBC Radio 1. His remix gives the release a straight up driving house touch that has become Manu’s trademark sound.
