Huxley
- Work EP
Moon Harbour | 24.08.2018
Studio alchemist Huxley returns to regular home Moon Harbour for another EP that packs in two more of his trademark house hitters, as well as a quality guest appearance from the legendary Ron Carroll.
UK talent Huxley continues to be at the forefront of the contemporary house scene thanks to his ability to lay down high impact sets and cook up dynamite tracks. He leans on house, garage and bass for inspiration and never fails to build an inescapable sense of energy that gets dancers on their toes and DJs reaching for his tunes. His last two releases have been on this label and this new one is another standout effort.
Up first is the excellent ‘Work’ featuring cult vocalist Ron Carroll. It’s a smooth rolling house tune with the high production values you would expect, as well as an infectious sense of groove. Cute chord stabs and big hi hats glide over rooted kicks, while Ron delivers a classic jacking house vocal that will pump any party.
Then comes ‘Elephant,’ a more percussive track that teases and builds tension over the course of seven tribal-tinged minutes. The jumbled drums and hits work you into a lather as weird synth sounds add that all important playfulness and character that marks out all Huxley tunes.
These are two different but equally vital new tracks from the ever innovative Huxley.
