Dumb Safari | 25.11.2022
It’s been a big year for Huxley with a whole slew of major league work-outs’ The summer gave us ‘Can’t Wait’ and ‘Supersonic’ on Ultra while more recent times have seen the UK headliner bless the Toolroom headlines for a second time this year. Already massive, ‘All I Need’ followed this spring’s successful piano pumper ‘Waiting’.
Each cut hitting a different side of the house spectrum, flexing a fresh corner of Huxley’s canvas, he now concludes the year with a brand new level up: Dumb Safari, a brand new label.
‘The plan of the label is an outlet for my own music and other producers who I really believe in, old and new. I’ve been looking for a home for some of my stuff that I feel fit nowhere else, so the plan is to find like-minded artists to grow our own sound and vibe. Give producers an outlet to find their feet and allow them to be interesting and creative, allowing them to go between the vast boundaries of House / Techno / UKG and beyond.’
Taking its name from one of his early breakthrough successes (2011 on Leftroom with Sam Russo) Dumb Safari’s boundary blasting starts right now with ‘AFN’. Taking a much heavier, techno-inspired twist towards his roots, ‘AFN’ is a pounding dark funk one-off cut that sets the label’s parameters ‘ direct dancefloor manoeuvres with just the right balance of loopy hypnosis. ‘AFN’ stands for something we’ll keep to ourselves for now but it’s clear what Dumb Safari stands for: premium beats and zero borders.
Dumb it up, don’t dumb it down’ Huxley’s at the wheel right here and we can’t wait to see where he takes us next.
