Ki Creighton
- Bouncer
Sola Records | 01.04.2022
‘Both these tracks were made for total dancefloor & festival impact, big sounds for big arenas. The lads picked up on this straight away and huge thanks to them for not only breaking the records but signing them also.’ – Ki Creighton
The release opens on ‘Bouncer’, comprising fat-bottomed beats and a raucous attitude. Heavyset kicks combine with a cadent bassline whilst buzzing horns pitch up and down from end to end. The track’s catchy vocal ad-libs add even more character, adding the finishing touches to this weighty dancefloor jam.
‘Speedway’ completes the EP with ample amounts of Creighton’s signature terrace-focused style. Rising melodies and percussive-driven grooves aplenty flood the record with movement whilst a soulful vox sample pulsates throughout. A statement piece of peak time music from one of the UK’s most respected artists!
It’s not often you see a rising star who’s been around forever, but that’s Ki Creighton ‘ an absolute bastion of proper house music over three decades, but now this is his time in the spotlight.
Before Ki hit the heights internationally, he really earned his stripes rocking it at venues across the UK since the mid-90s, including a residency at legendary Carlisle club night Uber which lasted ten years ‘ the entire lifetime of the night. At Uber, he played alongside the likes of Roger Sanchez, Hot Since 82, Green Velvet, Eats Everything, David Morales and of course, his old best buddy, Yousef.
Ki has released on some serious labels down the years, including Elrow, Snatch, Circus, 8bit, Lost Recordings, Kenja, WOW Recordings, New Violence, Glasgow Underground, Cajual, Material, and Underground Audio. As if that wasn’t enough, his own label, Under No Illusion, managed to break a record and feature a total of three times in one night on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show. Three times!
