Leftwing & Kody
- Gully EP
Moon Harbour | 29.09.2017
As summer is left behind and we all head back indoors, Moon Harbour serve up an EP from Leftwing & Kody that will keep your mind thoroughly on the dance floor.
The English pair behind it have established themselves as scene leaders with big releases on Relief Records, Suara and their own label Lost Records. This is their debut appearance on Moon Harbour, and it finds them serving up the sort of characterful tech house sounds that make them firm favourites with festival and Ibiza crowds alike. For this EP, they link with Isis Salam, who provides some unhinged vocals to finish the tracks in style.
Dynamite cut ‘With My Body’ is the first out of the blocks and has chunky, loopy, metallic drums encouraging you to bob up and down. Razor sharp hi hats and well treated vocals from Salam roll on forever, locking you in the groove and teasing with drum fills and filter sweeps.
The steamy ‘Slay’ then picks up the pace with more slick and flat-footed drums, all underpinned by giant kicks. Sub bass will really rattle the speakers and ensure you can feel the groove in your bones, while fist-pumping synth stabs and freaky vocal effects all add fuel to the fire.
Lastly, ‘Gully’ is the wildest of the lot, with sci-fi synths darting about like spaceships in an intergalactic battle. Tension builds in the filters; more wordless vocals add pressure and the closely stacked drums make the whole thing feel irresistibly physical.
Three tracks of pure heat make this an essential Moon Harbour debut for this ever more prominent pair.
