Four years after his first EP on Desert Hearts Records, Marbs returns with a two-piece solo offering dubbed ‘Psilo’.
‘Psilo’ floats on psychedelic currents, treading at high speed along thick basslines and futuristic sound effects that come together in a peak time-ready mix. ‘Cybin’ picks the energy up even more while plunging listeners into darkness with undulating analog riffs and strong, driving percussion that captures the harder, techno-leaning aesthetic that Marbs has homed in on as he’s burrowed deeper into the underground space.
Marbs has kept plenty busy prior to ‘Psilo.’ For seven months, he and Evan Casey have grown their label subsidiary, Desert Hearts Black, into a respected platform for melodic strains of house and techno. Along with Rinzen, their inaugural EP ‘Torus’ made it to the top of Beatport’s Overall chart after its singles saw play by Deep Dish and many others. The label has already seen releases from Tim Engelhardt, Dance Spirit, and Thugfucker, to name a few.
‘Psilo’ completes the ‘Road To Desert Hearts’ EP series, which shows off the distinctive sonic personalities of Mikey, Lee, Porky, and Marbs. These releases lead into a bustling year where North America’s best will be brought into the spotlight. With the Desert Hearts crew leading the charge, expect a year full of forward-thinking and fresh beats that will serve as an uplifting soundtrack for the rest of the year.
