Barcelona based Matteo Floris drops his Wollongong EP on Roush to close out August, featuring two original productions from the Italian and a collaboration with Lee Webster.
Having emerged onto the circuit in recent years following a string of prominent releases on the likes of Materialism, Resonance Records and Elrow Music, gaining the attention of artists such as DJ Sneak, Richy Ahmed and Mark Jenkyns in the process, Matteo Floris is definitely an individual making moves. Having released the bumping ‘No Sleepin’ on the label last summer as part of the 2017 ‘On & On Sonar Sampler’, here the Italian steps up to deliver a fresh 3 track EP entitled ‘Wollongong’ that’s packed full of energy from the off.
Title track ‘Wollongong’ is a slick and snaking production that utlises sampled vocal interjections alongside driving percussion licks and frenzied lead synth lines, before ‘Girls’ continues the slick drum work whilst incorporating a medley of crisp hats and infectious vocal hooks from rising vocalist Solo Tamas. Last up, the cheekily titled ‘Buge Hoobs’ rounds out proceedings as Floris partners with Uk talent Lee Webster, layering booming kicks, stuttered vox samples and an infectious bassline to great effect throughout.
Matteo Floris ‘Wollongong’ is out on Roush on 24th August 2018.
