Melé
- Scouse Afrika / Sleepless
Edible Music | 09.12.2016
Inspired by his love of Brazilian beats, transatlantic hip hop and classic house music, the British DJ/producer Melé debuts on Edible with a single that perfectly encapsulates this young artist’s sound and energy. Having built up an impressive production CV by remixing for the likes of Tiga, The 2 Bears and Tenor Fly and also releasing singles on Lobster Boy and Formula, the boy from the Wirral let’s rip on Eats Everything’s label with 2 killer club tracks.
Frenzied tribal rhythms are in full effect on ‘Scouse Afrika’, a track that’s already picked up heat and featured in Jackmaster’s recent Radio 1 Essential Mix. Functional and rolling beats come alive with chopped vocal refrains dipped in delay; the rumbling low end supplying an irresistible groove.
More high-octane sounds are packed into ‘Sleepless’; the percussive elements providing the hooks alongside choppy vocals and booming sub-bass, it’s perky arrangement never letting the energy drop for a minute.
Melé’s energetic and unique percussive sound has gained him prolific support and recognition from some of the biggest names across the scene; Patrick Topping, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Disclosure, to name but a few, and this single is sure to win over a whole new legion of fans.
