Whitesquare
- After Infinity EP
Culprit | 25.03.2016
Up next on the Los Angeles-based label the Italian theme continues, with a collection of music from another supremely talented young producer coming out of the Eternal City. Following on the heels of Lorenzo Dada is Maurice Uzzan aka Whitesquare. Having recently been introduced to Culprit via his remix of Audiojack, Whitesquare makes a quick leap into full EP territory with ‘After Infinity’.
Sonically the release represents a change of pace from the lush melodic deepness of Lorenzo Dada. Whitesquare’s old school house/techno-inspired sensibility is firmly rooted in dancefloor dynamics with its late-night clubby feel. Yet it shares the same analog warmth and tunefulness with Lorenzo Dada’s release.
‘Something to Say’ is the collection’s peaktime track, with it’s mighty bassline that rumbles and intertwines with a sporadic vocal. ‘Airborne’ is infused with the spirit of Dub Techno, but adds Whitesquare’s patented low end and a sprinkling of melody that completes the track. ‘Waiting For You’ softens the mood a touch, adding a wistful, musical theme to the producer’s typically powerful rhythm section.
The EP is also a chance to welcome the immense talent of Laurence Blake aka Citizenn to Culprit. The UK producer is one of the quickest rising artists in the global scene, having already become an integral part of Crosstown Rebels, Kerri Chandler’s Madtech and 20/20 Vision imprints.
