Childhood friends and Danish duo Anëk debut their first release on YAYA Records with ‘Now Or Never’, a 3 tracker EP geared straight towards the dancefloor. With George Smeddles and Los Pastores on the remix duties, we see this EP take some wonderful twist and turns, yet stay true to Anëk’s foundation of a solid house groover.

‘Now Or Never’ offers more of the duo’s signature sound, layering up a raw dense bassline against a set of throbbing kicks and trashy hi’s. Reverbed and distant vocal licks juxtapose heavily against the basslines endless pulsation, proving a flawless recipe for a solid late night jam.

George Smeddles strips back Anëk’s raw and driving baseline, building on the duos punchy drum pattern with a bundle of percussive technical patterns. With a variety of funky licks and vocal cuts, his take gives this track just that extra layer of rhythm, and throws you back to the reminiscent sounds of those more traditionally bouncy house rollers.

Los Pastores peel those layers back even more, this time building on Anëk’s pulsating and raw basslines with a much more playful take. Here, the focus is on the duo’s wide expansion of the mid-section, giving this remix it’s real definition. Huge synth sweeps and stretched out string lines effortlessly open up the track, build suspense and creates some intense releases.
