With its penchant for afro-infused club music, Club Bad’s newest release comes from the highly regarded Aroop Roy, who releases his debut EP ‘Pale Bayo’ on Melé’s influential imprint and he certainly does not disappoint.

For those who haven’t already come across his music Aroop Roy is a producer, musician and label head, who joins the dots between electronic music and borderless organic sounds. From house, disco and techno to jazz, funk and Afrobeat, he has enjoyed universal acclaim as a producer and DJ and high in demand as a remixer for both underground and major labels. His eclectic productions have become a mainstay for DJs across scenes and generations with support from the likes of Disclosure, Jimpster, Jamie Jones, Jamz Supernova and Melvo Baptiste and Gilles Peterson who calls him ‘a brilliant producer, who never fails.’.

Aroop is also enjoying huge momentum as a DJ, fully booked through to summer 2023, with headline sets at Fabric, Printworks, Defected Croatia, Hi Ibiza and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival all in the diary as well as being invited by the legendary Mr Scruff for a B2B tour.

For his debut release on Club Bad, he drops the ‘Pale Bayo EP’ and first out of the box is the lead and title track ‘Pale Bayo’. With an organic Afro-tribal feel cutting through the speakers from the get-go, it’s easy to hear why this has found its home on Club Bad. Aroop uses French Creole vocals carefully arranged over an old school analogue bassline and synths ‘ a track with a unique flavour, which really stands out above the rest.

On the flip we have ‘Edabile’, which has a more soulful style. With a delicate chord groove, Chicago stabs and hypnotic afro vocal loop, this is something that will appeal to fans of Osunlade, Atjazz and all those who love the original deep house sound. This is a fantastic first out on Club Bad from Aroop Roy and we hope to see him return to the label again soon.
