Archie Hamilton welcomes Luuk Van Dijk and Kabbina to his newly formed MicroHertz imprint with the classy EP ‘Fruitless’, which comes complete with a remix from Casey Spillman.

Dutch producer Luuk Van Dijk should need little introduction for those in the Minimal and Deep Tech scene. Having had releases on a myriad of highly regarded labels, such as Hot Creations, Eastenderz, No Art, Heavy House Society, and his own Dark Side of the Sun imprint, the talented producer has teamed up with the Kabbina. The UK trio previously remixed Van Dijks track ‘Kooky’ on Dark Side of the Sun, whilst also releasing on Detlef’s imprint Issues. Together with Luuk they to produced a slick EP, with hints of Balearic and old school flavour to it, yet produced in 2022 fashion. The package is topped off with a sublime remix from London based artist Casey Spillman, who regularly features on prominent labels such as Locus, Constant Sound, Infuse and Leftroom.

Track 1 is the lead and title track ‘Fruitless’. This is a beautiful blend of dreamy pads and bouncing bass combining with organ and bell synths that wouldn’t be out of place on the Space terrace back in the 90’s. This is a blissful summer track and one that’s definitely going to catch attention and get everyone smiling this summer.

The second track is Casey Spillman’s remix of ‘Fruitless’. He delivers a sleek remix that has power and cool woven into its core. Retaining and looping up certain parts of the original he drops a track that evolves, and never gets boring with its subtle and hypnotic arrangement. This is a very tasty remix indeed.

Third is ‘Mowgli’ with intertwining percussion, beats and bass in a delicate groove, old school organs come in to give this a graceful and elegant feel that’s perfect for the more discerning listener.

Last but not least is ‘Kick It Kev’ a great way to finish off a great EP, with punchy beats this is a fresh and breezy track with energy and a summer feel, which stem from the tender atmospherics and tripped out percussion which are all interlaced in delectable groove.
