Smash TV
- Break the Monotony EP
Culprit | 26.08.2016
German veteran production duo, Smash TV, return to Culprit with their second EP. Engagingly warm and upbeat, ‘Break The Monotony’ is the summertime counterpart to the darker melodies of the duo’s label debut, ‘Cascadia’ released last November.
The EP features three first-rate originals: the dancefloor-aimed electronic bounce of the title track that has been one of the main secret weapons for the Culprit gang this summer; the funk-laden groove of ‘Walk with Me’; and ‘Live For the Weekend’ – Smash TV’s first collaboration with Craig Walker, ex-frontman of an Irish indie-electronica band Archive.
Remixing ‘Break The Monotony’ is a long-time friend of the label, making her much welcomed first appearance on Culprit, Kate Simko. The classically trained Chicago (now based in London) producer adds her own melodic analog bassline and percussive touches to the original, effortlessly combining her hometown’s house feel with the modern sound design. A bonus Instrumental edit of ‘Live for the Weekend’ completes the release.
