MANIK
- Tokyo EP
Nice Age | 25.05.2015
MANIK is set for a release on Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’s ‘Nice Age’ imprint ‘Tokyo EP’. Its their ninth release, and its out at the end of May. A real groove laced dance floor EP, which includes three originals from the LA based producer MANIK.
‘Nice Age’ has been around for some time now, formed in 2011, with releases from the likes of Radio Slave, Krankbrothers and Swick all getting in on the action. First release on the label for MANIK and he has spared no expenses. Recently coming back from a trip to Tokyo, it has that Tokyo edge about it.
MANIK has been featuring on the likes of Ovum, Culprit and Black Butter and its nice to see him getting some serious credit, which he deserves.
Title track ‘Tokyo’ is a real future aged acid house anthem, with a infectious groove. The track is also filled up with playful chimes and vocal moans fashion a cheerful, feel-good vibe.
‘Buffalo Trace’ has that old fashioned classic 303 sound, giving the track a dark gritty feel. ‘Silver’ rounds the ‘Tokyo EP’ picking up the pace from ‘Tokyo’ and ‘Buffalo Trace’, using a profusion of claps and hats to take things in a rhythmic direction as spectral chords float elegantly throughout the track.
