Ronnie Spiteri
- Time To Go EP
Arkd Records | Unknown
Southampton’s Ronnie Spiteri puts his stamp on this one, his “Time To Go” EP brings two originals from the young Brit, as well as superb remix work from none other than Jhonsson and GruuvElement’s.
Ronnie Spiteri, who has previously appeared on Toolroom Records, Do Not Sleep and also captains his own Kenja Records imprint, serves a worthy purpose by going in fast with “Time To Go”, the tech house thumper gives us a tectonic-esque bassline, swingin’ drum grooves and a solid club filth that glues the mix together well. On the flip side “Re-con” gives much of the same. Laid back drum grooves, Huge bassline, Subtle resonance in the synths, and a reverb heavy break; this one really has it all.
First up on the remix front we see fellow British talent Jhonsson, having impressed with his work for MadTech, Toolroom and Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound label, no wonder Jhonsson got the nod. Jhonsson’s edit shows off a harmonising bassline, lovely vocal chops and a dynamic mix that seems perfect for radio, the car or the DJ booth.
The fourth and final cut on this one is from London duo GruuvElement’s, bringing pretty unique drum grooves, a subtle ambience in the synths and a stripped back approach in the climax, it’s a piece of club beauty, and a real dream for the marathon DJ set.
