Above & Beyond’s Anjunadeep have really come on over the last 2 years and the Anjunadeep has just been extended. Steve Huerta gets his debut release on the label with ‘Say It Wasn’t / Bear Witness’. The EP is backed up by Hotflush artist Locked Groove

Featured on the Anjunadeep 06 compilation which topped the iTunes Dance Album chart in the USA, Huerta delivers an emotive and powerful opener for the EP in his melodic ‘Say It Wasn’t’, built over subtle chords, shifting percussion and deep fuzzy tones. ‘Bear Witness’ pulses into life over shifting hi-hats and weighty kicks, around the one minute mark the slow burning percussive groove is partnered with hypnotic oscillating synths and delicate chords to dish up a warm and well-polished record bubbling with vitality.

Up for remix duty is Hotflush Recordings man Locked Groove, who seamlessly blurs the lines between house and techno for his club-ready re-imagining of ‘Say it Wasn’t’. Rippling percussion and fluctuating synths characterise the dynamic progressions in the record, which culminate to deliver a stunning groove-laden re-think from the Belgian powerhouse.
