Ahead of him releasing the much anticipated House Lessons compilation on Sante’s AVOTRE in January 2016, esteemed UK DJ and producer Russ Yallop is teasing us with a fine taster EP.

Yallop, of course, has made his name as part of the Crosstown Rebels, No 19 Music and Hot Creations crews. Tracks like his I Can’t Wait have proven modern classics and as a DJ he commands audiences all over the world with his well informed, diverse selections. That is also the case with his forthcoming compilation, which includes music from Jamie Jones, Art Department, Kenny Glasgow, and many cuts from wAFF himself.

Ahead of that, two tracks from it are presented on this essential new EP. The first is Mike The Swamp by Russ in collaboration with Cocoon artist and techno star wAFF. It is seven minutes of pure dance floor dynamite, with slick percussion riding above kinetic, engaging drums. A party starting vocal tells you to get a move on, and clubbers surely will as the groove and snaking lead synth line really are irresistible.

The other cut is System Crank, an original by Russ and Wildcat that gets remixed by Luca Cazal, a key member of the hugely successful Hot Natured group, two renowned duos; Infinity Ink and Luca C & Brigante, as well as the alternative project Invisible Cities. The track itself is a shimmering, shimmying cut that is smooth and seductive, with deep rooted bass, rolling synths that really suck you in and filtered vocals for that stylish finish. It’s prying, well produced and impossible to ignore.

This is a tidy EP that more than whets the whistle for the forthcoming compilation.
